Current Projects

We are currently involved in a wide range of projects, more recently in the field of medical research and clinical care.  Below are a couple of examples with detailed case studies to follow:

  • The development of a Microsoft Access database to support the work of Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in recording and researching patients suffering with scleroderma.  The database is currently being tested with final implementation planned for the end of April;
  • The development of a collaborative workspace to support the work of the UK Rheumatoid Arthritis Genetics Consortium based upon Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 Standard.  The application allows the secure sharing and storage of anonymised research data sets, using SSL to protect the data files during transit;
  • The development of an information and patient focussed magazine web site for the Leeds Musculoskeletal Biomedical Research Unit.  The web site will be based around the WordPress blogging software to produce an easily administered web site which is still aesthetically pleasing;
  • The conversion of paper based forms to Microsoft InfoPath 2007 forms along with appropriate workflow to route enquiries according to the form content;
  • Allied to the above, we are currently creating a unified database structure to support both clinical care and medical research functions of the Leeds Musculoskeletal Biomedical Research Unit; this will provide access based security, advanced approval workflows and require the loading of data from a variety of sources in a variety of formats with differing levels of completion and validation;
  • Creation of a data collection system for long term studies of rheumatoid arthritis and other musculoskeletal diseases utilising Microsoft Office software;
