Electronic data collection system for EMPIRE

We were recently contacted by Leeds Institute of Molecular Medicine who were looking for a quick solution to their electronic data collection system for the Etanercept and Methotrexate in Patients to Induce Remission in Early Arthritis (EMPIRE) study.  Having been let down by a previous systems provider, the team required a system which was easy to implement with a low learning curve for data entry clerks.

We successfully delivered a system within 8 weeks which made use of their existing Microsoft SharePoint 2010 Foundation system by deploying bespoke Microsoft InfoPath forms to capture clinical information, patient reported outcomes and to track any adverse events relating to the study drug.

We also tailored and deployed a third party web service to facilitate data scraping directly into a Microsoft SQL Server 2008 database and established a number of views to support data validation and subsequent analysis.
